Big Dan's Big News April 4, 2010

GOP Petition Fraud

Above: Paul Summers, GOP activist, has a case of petition fraud against him forwarded to Republican district attorney of Pennsylvania Tom Corbett. The fraud stems from false and multiple signatures on a nominating petition for Republican Pat Meehan in Delaware County's 7th Congressional District vacated by Joe Sestak. Tom Corbett is a Republican who recently started a case to sue to repeal Obama's health care plan legislation (using taxpayer money???). Let's see what Tom Corbett does about this petition fraud of a fellow Republican.

* Rita Lamb's name appears on Meehan's petition - three times. But she told the Daily News she didn't sign any of them. "No I did not sign them, absolutely not," she said.

* Domenic Pino said that he signed Meehan's petition this month and that it had been circulated by Steve Valerio, a Ridley Park official. But John McNichol, the longtime chairman of the Upper Darby GOP, is listed as the circulator on that petition.

McNichol conceded yesterday that he hadn't been the circulator, yet he signed a sworn affidavit claiming that he had been.

"That petition was dropped off," McNichol said. "To the best of my knowledge, [Valerio] said, 'I forgot to sign the petition.' "

* Robert Cornett of Drexel Hill said he signed a Meehan petition that Summers claims to have circulated. But Cornett said he was told it was a petition to reduce local property taxes. And the circulator, Cornett says, was a man in his early 20s - not Summers, who is 58.

"That was not the guy that was at the door, I can guarantee you that," Cornett said of Summers.

* Kathleen Pride, who lives three blocks from Meehan and sees him at church every Sunday, said she would have signed the petition, except no one brought it to her door. Yet, someone signed her name.

"The whole thing is really weird," she said. "I can't imagine Pat Meehan having anything to do with that."

Petition fraud could give Meehan a bad name

You will NOT hear Tom Corbett, who's always on WILK, talk about or be asked about this petition fraud...but you WILL hear all about his case against the health care plan!

What will WILK's Tom Corbett...I mean Tom Corbett is always on rightwing WILK about challenging the health care bill. I'm sure WILK will ask him about this PETITION FRAUD by a fellow Republican which was forwarded to him...or at least Tom Corbett will make sure he tells us about this petition fraud without the WILK shills asking him on WILK all rightwing all the time radio. He'll "get right on it"!!! I'm sure...maybe Rush Limbaugh will ask him about it. Or maybe his "brother" Steve Corbett will ask him about it? Or Sue Henry? Nah! They'll talk about his grandstanding suit against the health care plan...followed by Lou Barletta talking about how he really doesn't hate brown people. Entercom won't let them talk about the petition fraud. Maybe when the "Nancy and Gasper the Friendly Ghost" show hits the airwaves, they'll talk about it. Here's some other things WILK's stenographers won't ask Republicans: 1) Are you for banning contraception? 2) You're for cutting government spending, are you for cutting the biggest government spending of all: military spending? Which accounts for over half the budget and growing every year? Do you realize we're spending 2.5 BILLION dollars a week in Iraq and Afghanistan during a financial crisis?

This is the 18th year I'm in the same fantasy baseball league. When I first got in the league, we used to type our daily transactions onto a floppy disk every two weeks and mail it to SpinStats, one of the first "Rotisserie" baseball leagues, and they would apply the transactions and mail us this big, thick report of our league stats and standings and we'd all make copies of it. Of course, it's all computerized and online now. You can actually watch the league's stats and standings changing LIVE in real time as the games are being played daily. And transactions are immediate and in real time and you do them yourself online. The website has a chat room in it so you can talk to other owners. Wow! Here is my team:

I bet I'm going to be playing the two hottest of those four for a while. We'll see what happens. Let it develop. I also stuck in Shaun Marcum at the last second for Octavio Dotel. Marcum will probably get POUNDED because I did that! And I picked up Jon Rauch when they announced he's the Twins' closer in place of Joe Nathan. Oddly, my favorite team is the Boston Red Sox, and I always seem to NOT have any Red Sox! This year is the same: I have Clay Buchholz who is a longshot very young starting pitcher for them, and that's it! Once again! I subconsciously shy away from drafting Red Sox, maybe I think I'm going to JINX them, if I have to many of them. If you aren't into baseball, you have no idea what I'm talking about! Also, I drafted Jose Reyes when it looked like this superstar maybe would be out hurt for a very long time. I took a chance and drafted him early into reserve, and now it turns out he will only miss the first week of the season. Good luck for me! Fantasy baseball is a game where players manage imaginary baseball teams based on the real-life performance of baseball players, and compete against one another using those players' statistics to score points. It is the oldest form of fantasy sports, and arguably one of the most difficult and time-intensive due to the 162-game season of the MLB and the inconsistency of players.
