Big Dan's Big News August 5, 2010

Pa. Rep Paul Kanjorski introduces grant for the "Alan Parsons Project" at Schott Optical in Duryea, bringing (air quotes) "GIANT LASER(s)" into area, with the possibility of attaching them to sharks' heads...and possibly ill-tempered mutant SeaBass:

I really don't think the Republican County Commissioner's wife is stealing 50 cent newspapers...LET'S GET SERIOUS HERE!!!

This story doesn't pass the smell test: Linda Urban is charged by a Wilkes-Barre cop for theft over a misunderstanding: she saw newspapers appear on her porch, thought it was a free promotion (which I get all the time, too, and everyone knows this), and a woman in the same double block house called the cops and Linda was charged with theft over about $4 worth of newspapers. First of all, the woman calling the police is ridiculous. She should've called the newspaper and asked if they were delivering it. Then asked her neighbor, Linda, if she saw newspapers delivered there starting around July 22. Linda would've said, "Yes...OOPS! I thought they were a free promotion, here they are". CASE CLOSED! But this woman calls the cops and then instead of the cop saying to the woman, "Here's your papers, it was a misunderstanding", he charges her with theft. With all the corruption going on around here and the worldwide as well as state and local financial crunch, this cop's actions are going to cost the taxpayers a pretty penny with court and police costs. And I question whether this cop had an agenda or an agenda for someone else, based on the ludicrous charges. Furthermore, I think Linda Urban should report this to the FEDS that are in the midst of charging over 30 people in Luzerne County government with corruption, because the cop's actions and the whole thing STINKS and doesn't pass the smell test, especially in light of the fact that her husband is running for state senate. And this opinion is coming from me, someone on the extreme left! I'm so far left, I almost wrap around to the right again! I have a blog, because I am very perceptive, I instantly can see when something REEKS...AND THIS WHOLE THING REEKS!!!

A victory for LOVE, a defeat for HATE and DISCRIMINATION: California anti-gay law struck down! Now let's work on the Muslim-bashing and other racism:

Great news for real conservatives who believe in the U.S. Constitution and its guarantee of equal protection under the law! A U.S. District Court Judge, first nominated by Ronald Reagan and then appointed under George H.W. Bush, has struck down CA's Prop 8 which added an amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriage equality. The state's majority Republican-appointed Supreme Court had previously found no basis for banning same-sex marriage in the CA constitution. That finding was, in effect, overturned at the ballot box in November 2008 by Prop 8 which ended same-sex marriage in the state and left thousands of marriages in limbo until today's finding.

"We've got to stop thinking about equality in terms of 'conservative' and 'liberal'" - conservative attorney Ted Olsen, who got Prop-8 overturned (on left in video below). Olsen is conservative and Boies is liberal, they faced off against each other in Bush v Gore 2000 election, but were together on this:
